Justice, equity, diversity, And inclusion Committee (JEDI)

Committee Mission Statement

The WMHCA JEDI committee takes an intersectional approach to anti-racism. We seek to dismantle systems of oppression and white supremacy ideologies that create barriers to mental health for all marginalized identities and disenfranchised communities. We believe all forms of injustice are interconnected and social justice is an essential aspect of wellness. This is an action-orientated value to uphold the human dignity of all as the heart of our work and include this perspective in all aspects of mental health counseling and the organization.

Committee Purpose

The JEDI Committee is responsible for examining WMHCA practices and making sure all practices and policies are equitable.  The JEDI committee is also responsible for anti-racist training and education.  The JEDI committee was involved in creating and implementing WMHCA's Strategic Plan.

Antiracism is our organization’s foundational commitment to confronting and dismantling racism, which sits at the root of many other forms of systemic oppression. We recognize that racism is interconnected with, and reinforces, other forms of discrimination—including sexism, classism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and beyond.

Because no single list can capture every marginalized identity or experience, we use the term antiracism as an inclusive framework that calls us to actively challenge all systems of oppression. For us, being antiracist means continually examining our own practices, policies, and culture to ensure they advance justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion for all communities.
